    You too, of course!

  • @Robin Datta & anyone else who has thoughts on the question

According to the meat robot view of humans…is there any explanation for telepathic communication between humans ? If so, please elaborate.

    —————————-

FYI, sometime between about 1975 and 1985 Analog magazine ran a biographical treatment of Buckminster Fuller (written by Norman Spinrad, who spent a few days with Bucky for the piece). Bucky’s take on telepathy was that it was likely to be a material transmission from body to body at frequencies that we do not yet (or didn’t at that point) have adequate instrumentation for.

Gracias, mi amigo, con mucho gusto!!

  • Remember, humans are greedy. The real question is what will greedy humans with power do as things start to unravel.

  • There is no scientific evidence that telepathy is a real phenomenon. Many studies seeking to detect, understand, and utilize telepathy have been carried out, but no replicable results from well-controlled experiments exist. There is “no adequate scientific evidence that people can read other people’s minds. Research has not identified one single indisputable telepath or clairvoyant.” – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telepathy

  • “@Robin Datta & anyone else who has thoughts on the question

According to the meat robot view of humans…is there any explanation for telepathic communication between humans ? If so, please elaborate.”

If one posits the primacy of matter-energy and declines to provide proof of consciousness, then all phenomena pertaining to the mind of a meat robot have to be attributed to the physicochemical states within that brain. Any distant influences have to be explained in terms of the various physical fields such as electromagnetic fields extending between and beyond automatons.

    Thanks, tvt!

  • I’ve completed a new analysis of feedback loops. It’s described in my latest essay.

  • I am married to a psychologist and through my wife, I have learned a lot about human behaviour.
The biggest problem I see with humans dealing with abrupt climate change is a psychological phenomenon called: “normalcy bias”.
In short it means that: since a serious disaster never occurred before, one tends to underestimate the potential hazard of a disaster, or ignore it altogether when it happens.
It is “normalcy bias” which caused the Jews to -almost willingly- follow the Germans right into the gas chambers, during WWII.
Why? Because almost no-one wanted to believe that the nazi’s were so evil, that they would willingly and knowingly murder 6 million men, women and children.
It was an event SO far of the scale that almost no-one could believe it, unless they would have actually stepped into the gas chambers and started inhaling Zyklon-B…

We are currently experiencing a similar event with massive greenhouse gas emissions.
The signs of a warming planet are already here: temperature is rising drastically in the polar regions. Crops are failing due to drought or flooding, plankton is dying in the oceans, and so is marine life. Significant parts of Bangladesh are currently flooding. (Nothing on the news about that huh?)
Even in Belgium (E.U.), where I live the AVERAGE temperature in december 2015 has risen from -5C in 1879 to a whopping +10C in 2015. An increase by +15C (+27F) in a period of 137 years!!!
Believe it or not: we had days in December as hot as 19C (66F)!!! You could sit on a terras in short sleeves! As a kid -I am 48years- I’d freeze my ass of between the end of October and the end of February. Not anymore! Those days are gone!
I live in Flanders, the northern part of Belgium. Average hight where I live: +7m above sea level. We are sooooooo fucked! Pretty soon Brussels will be a “city by the sea” and my region (Flanders), will be totally submerged. That’s 6.6 million people! Add this to 17 million Dutch people in Holland and you start to get the picture of this global clusterfuck!

  • @Stephan Dhaene

About the temperature anomalies: We have the same here in Germany, now the 3rd total failure of winter in a row. And yes, it’s the sick “normalcy bias” all around the rich western countries, they will “believe” in climate change when they are dead, not one day earlier, I am afraid. I imagine they think something like “I want to have fun today, I give a shit about people dying elsewhere on the planet, tomorrow I will be dead anyway and then who cares about if I were right or wrong- so I just give shit“.

    So sad, so painfully ignorant.

  • @Batman

We might be as well zombies. Are we zombies? If life is nothing but material activity, aren’t we all dead already?

Interesting thesis^^ Well, if we are REALLY DEAD already, then we can’t die anymore, right?

  • … Me having nothin’
But possessing riches more than all
    And I’m free
    To be nowhere
But in every place I need to be
    Freer than a sunbeam
    Shinning through my soul
Free from feelin’ heat or knowing bitter cold
    Free from conceiving the beginning
    For that’s the infinite start

I’m gone – gone but still living
Life goes on without a beating heart

    Free like a vision
That the mind of only you can see

    Freer than a raindrop
    Falling from the sky
Freer than a smile in a baby’s sleepin’ eyes

    I’m free like a river
    Flowin’ freely to infinity
I’m free to be sure of what
I am and who I need not be
I’m much freer – like the meaning of the word free that

Free – free like the vision that
The mind of only you are ever gonna see
Free like the river my life
Goes on and on through infinity…

  • @Paul Chefurka

In the opinion of non-existent spiritual teacher Jed McKenna, spiritual growth is a process of autolysis (self-digestion) rather than a graceful ascension. In that way it’s much like coming to terms with the reality of Near Term Human Extinction and the part we have each played in bringing it about.

Here’s the thing. Self-digestion, whether spiritual or physical, can be unbelievably, intolerably painful. There’s nothing “exquisite” about it, it’s not some kind of “sanctuary”. Especially if we have, intentionally or not, dragged someone we love into the cauldron of boiling soul-acid alongside us, whether or not they are ready or willing.

Sometimes, as the flesh dissolves off my bones one nerve fiber at a time, it’s hard to remember why I’m doing this: that flaying myself alive is somehow supposed to be good for me; that I will “thank myself in the end.” Why on God’s Gray Earth would anyone choose to do this?

In the face of such agony, it doesn’t take much of a stretch to understand why people flee en masse into spiritual bypassing or its secular civilized NTHE counterpart, techno-utopianism. The self-deception and avoidance is far less painful than meticulously searing one’s own flesh with the blowtorch of awareness.
    So it goes.

I don’t see myself “fleeing into spiritual bypassing” ect, in fact, the exact opposite is true:

    TRUTH SET ME FREE :-)

And I am not responsible for the destruction and exploitation of Mother Earth (I am willingly living from an existential minimum, I call that FREEDOM), but a Minority is responsible for it. But anyway:

If I would be just complaining and do nothing about the immense suffering on this planet, would that be better then? Would that change anything on this planet for good? Would that save anyone from NTE? What do you do to make this world a better place? What do YOU do to pursue a life of excellence? Do you LOVE anyone or anything in your life? And what do you think about the immense responsibility of the GREEDY LIERS and CHEATERS of ExxonMobil et al? :-)

    Love,
    Nemesis

  • … well, I think, it’s extremely strange and funny that nobody at NBL seems to be interested in the business of ExxonMobil et al so far (I posted about that topic some months ago already, but no reaction so far)- I mean, those are the guys who earned billions and billions from the exploitation of humankind and Mother Earth :-)

Funny, really funny. Does the mess of the planet surprise anybody at all, if nobody is interested in the real causes?! Yeah, here you got some real stuff, you could investigate a bit further, dear Paul Chefurka ;-)

  • @Paul Chefurka

You call yourself “BODHI” Paul Chefurka at your webpage http://www.paulchefurka.ca/ . That’s a spiritual (buddhist) term :-) :

Bodhi (Sanskrit: बोधि; and Pali) in Buddhism is the understanding possessed by a Buddha regarding the true nature of things. It is traditionally translated into English with the word enlightenment, although its literal meaning is closer to “awakening.” The verbal root “budh” means to awaken.

Bodhi is presented in the Nikayas as knowledge of the causal mechanism by which beings incarnate into material form and experience suffering. Although its most common usage is in the context of Buddhism, the term buddhi is also used in other Indian philosophies and traditions…

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodhi

    Why is that?

  • Choosing the inner path involves re-framing the whole thing in terms of consciousness, self-awareness and/or some form of transcendent perception. For someone on this path it is seen as an attempt to manifest Gandhi’s message, “Become the change you wish to see in the world,” on the most profoundly personal level. This message is similarly expressed in the ancient Hermetic saying, “As above, so below.” Or in plain language, “In order to heal the world, first begin by healing yourself…

I happen to have chosen an inner path as my response to a Stage 5 awareness. It works well for me, but navigating this imminent (transition, shift, metamorphosis – call it what you will), will require all of us – no matter what our chosen paths – to cooperate on making wise decisions in difficult times.

Best wishes for a long, exciting and fulfilling journey…/i>”

Written by “Bodhi” Paul Chefurka at http://www.paulchefurka.ca/

Great! YES, I second that spiritual path :-)

    Namaste,
    Nemesis

  • … btw: I’d NEVER call myself “Bodhi”- but who cares, I am no Buddhist, just a nobody ;-)

  • **it’s extremely strange and funny that nobody at NBL seems to be interested in the business of ExxonMobil et al**

Many folks already take things like Exxon’s antics as the default. Folks in power are criminal psychopaths – nothing new there – so Exon did this Exon did that….yawn.

Maybe if we would post enough inane drivel – on enough obscure blogs – we could save the world from evil meanies like Exxon?

The easiest way to keep folks in prison is to get them to believe they are free.

  • Well, at least, I am completely free of billions and billions of petrodollars and the responsobility that comes with it. And I am free of being “someone important”, I love to be nobody and I call that freedom :-)

  • Paul Chefurka puts it this wonderful way:

However, there is more. My favourite quote from Nisargadatta is, “Love says ‘I am everything’. Wisdom says ‘I am nothing’. Between the two, my life flows.” This points to the truth that Oneness flies on two wings, one composed of awareness (jnana) the other of love (bhakti). Only with both wings fully spread can the soul fly to freedom.

My practice these days consists of exploring the interpenetration of love and awareness in as many ways as possible:

    Awareness for its own sake;
    Love for its own sake;
    Awareness of love;
    Love of awareness;
    Awareness within love;
    Love within awareness;
Love and awareness as the same thing.

And finally, this all takes place within the four-fold manifestation of my divine humanity: body/mind/heart/spirit.

  • @Bob S.

Paul Chefurka said everything about FREEDOM in a really wonderful way, didn’t he?

  • Dedicated with Love to Paul Chefurka and all fellow human beings at NBL:

  • **Only with both wings fully spread can the soul fly to freedom.**

To some it appears as profound wisdom. To others it looks like utter bullshit.

    But regardless, sure sounds kewl.

  • To some it appears as profound wisdom. To others it looks like utter bullshit.

Hahaha– yoh, that’s the way it is.

  • Bob S. ~

“To some it appears as profound wisdom. To others it looks like utter bullshit.”

perhaps it actually isn’t either, as for what the true intent is there. it reads like “user manual” stuff to me. basic principles. not profound, not BS, but just something to keep in mind in various situations.

    Love says ‘I am everything’.

this is another take on the Golden Rule. treat others, treat Nature, treat your world in general as you yourself would most deeply wish to be treated. because it is in fact really you that you are dealing with in all those situations. and what you put out there is always going to come back to you, sooner or later.

    Wisdom says ‘I am nothing’.

the opposite of arrogance. the approach where ego knows something about its actual place in the Cosmos, and takes that fact into consideration in its actions.

Between the two, my life flows.

just applying the principles, in practice, to the best of one’s ability.

and as one applies the principles, and appreciates the flow of how life can actually work, one sometimes feels a new kind of being, that feels like,

Only with both wings fully spread can the soul fly to freedom.

it could be that the user manual with these kinds of words contains deeper ideas, or deeper potentials for creative application. that’s always a possibility. like with learning how to program a computer, one can explore that possibility more as one masters the basics.

  • “And yes, it’s the sick “normalcy bias” all around the rich western countries, they will “believe” in climate change when they are dead, not one day earlier, I am afraid. ”

Nearly everyone I know and like fits that category. I want to clobber them over the head with some of Guy’s statistics, but my more mature self realizes that I’d best try to spoon feed them–like getting a child to take medicine. The saying goes that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. Artists have sugar in their arsenal, but they need to include the freaking medicine too!

    Such goobly gook.

Mo you always remind me of my dear departed brother who kept a cheesy plaque on his desk that read -“If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.”

Spiritual development requires exact language – escaping from prison requires more than lofty ideas and ambiguous new age jingos – it requires exact knowledge and the right tools. And it requires someone who has already escaped who is willing to teach you how.

It’s very personal – not everyone can fit the narrow tunnels or climb the bare walls — each is different – with different weakness and abilities. While it is said that some have escaped alone – this is the rare exception – not the rule.

  • Somewhere there are still peoples and herds, but not with us, my brothers: here there are states.

A state? What is that? Well! open now your ears to me, for now I will speak to you about the death of peoples.

State is the name of the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly it lies; and this lie slips from its mouth: “I, the state, am the people.”

It is a lie! It was creators who created peoples, and hung a faith and a love over them: thus they served life.

Destroyers are they who lay snares for the many, and call it state: they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them.

Where there are still peoples, the state is not understood, and is hated as the evil eye, and as sin against laws and customs.

This sign I give to you: every people speaks its own language of good and evil, which its neighbor does not understand. It has created its own language of laws and customs.

But the state lies in all the tongues of good and evil; and whatever it says it lies; and whatever it has it has stolen.

Everything in it is false; it bites with stolen teeth, and bites often. It is false down to its bowels.

Confusion of tongues of good and evil; this sign I give you as the sign of the state. This sign points to the will to death! it points to the preachers of death!

All too many are born: for the superfluous the state was created!

See how it entices them to it, the all-too-many! How it swallows and chews and rechews them!

“On earth there is nothing greater than I: I am the governing hand of God.” — thus roars the monster. And not only the long-eared and short-sighted fall upon their knees!

Ah! even in your ears, you great souls, it whispers its gloomy lies! Ah! it finds out the rich hearts which willingly squander themselves!

Yes, it finds you too, you conquerors of the old God! You became weary of conflict, and now your weariness serves the new idol!

It would set up heroes and honorable ones around it, the new idol! Gladly it basks in the sunshine of good consciences, — the cold monster!

It will give everything to you, if you worship it, the new idol: thus it buys the lustre of your virtue, and the glance of your proud eyes.

Through you it seeks to seduce the all-too-many! Yes, a hellish artifice has been created here, a death-horse jingling with the trappings of divine honors!

Yes, a dying for many has been created here, which glorifies itself as life: verily, a great service to all preachers of death!

The state, I call it, where all drink poison, the good and the bad: the state, where all lose themselves, the good and the bad: the state, where the slow suicide of all — is called “life.”

Behold the superfluous! They steal the works of the creators and the treasures of the wise. Education, they call their theft — and everything becomes sickness and trouble to them!

Behold the superfluous! They are always sick; they vomit their bile and call it a newspaper. They devour each other and cannot even digest themselves.

Behold the superfluous! They acquire wealth and become the poorer for it. They seek power, and the lever of power, much money — these impotent ones!

See them clamber, these nimble apes! They clamber over one another, and thus pull each other into the mud and the abyss.

They all strive for the throne: this is their madness — as if happiness sat on the throne! Often filth sits on the throne. — and often also the throne on filth.

Madmen they all seem to me, and clambering apes, and too eager. Foul smells their idol to me, the cold monster: foul they all smell to me, these idolaters.

My brothers, will you suffocate in the fumes of their maws and appetites! Better to break the windows and jump into the open air!

Escape from their foul stench! Escape from the idolatry of the superfluous!

Escape from their foul stench! Escape from the steam of these human sacrifices!

The earth is yet free for great souls. There are still many empty sites for the lonesome and the twosome, surrounded by the fragrance of tranquil seas.

A free life is yet possible for great souls. He who possesses little is that much less possessed: blessed be a little poverty!

There, where the state ends — there only begins the man who is not superfluous: there begins the song of the necessary, the single and irreplaceable melody.

    – Friedrich Nietzsche, Also sprach Zarathustra

I share what I want to share, as I am inspired to!

I’m very glad for everyone else to do the same.

“escaping from prison requires more than lofty ideas and ambiguous new age jingos”

this sure sounds like a lofty idea to me. :)

    “Spiritual development requires exact language”

given a situation that calls for exact language, I will always use it.

    “spiritual development” ?

    “escaping from prison” ?

what is that? care to take a stab at a definition? this all sounds rather ambiguous.

“it requires exact knowledge and the right tools.”

    mmm, perhaps.

“And it requires someone who has already escaped who is willing to teach you how.”

    perhaps.

big time perhaps on that one.

more than anything it requires that “the student” is in the right place, and that the student is more than willing. much more.

when the student is in the right place, anything in the universe can teach. humans or their language are not required, in the slightest.

more bullshit just for you, Bob, really sorry about that!!!

do you speak eagle or owl, Bob?

I do! the best language around for me has always been the language of nature.

for the exact/complex question with human language, there are many texts out there that use exact language brilliantly. The Power of Now and the Diamond in your Pocket are two that come immediately to mind.

there are many that use language that contains multiple layers of meaning, metaphor all over the place and analogy up the wazoo, and poetry and all of that artsy bullshit.

the Bible, thousands of Sufi stories, my personal favorites Leaves of Grass and the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao Te Ching… and many others.

anyone is completely free to choose what works best!

I would love to hear more about anything you want to share about any of these things or ideas, Bob. that could be great for furthering these discussions. seriously!!!

(oops, I used the word “love” there. I hope you don’t mind, too much. I know that is one of your taboos. ;) )

  • They (and his sister) had to jail Friedrich Nietzsche into a madhouse, to get rid of him. His last letters were signed with:

    Dionysos, der Gekreuzigte

  • Bob S. ~

    to continue with your thoughts…

It’s very personal – not everyone can fit the narrow tunnels or climb the bare walls — each is different – with different weakness and abilities.

yes, this is obvious. thanks though, reminders of the basics can always be helpful. sometimes very helpful.

While it is said that some have escaped alone – this is the rare exception – not the rule.

what is “alone”? do you have any idea what you are talking about?

there isn’t anyone who is truly alone here ever. we always have inputs coming from all over the place “outside” ourselves, seen and unseen. many of these inputs are guidance, in zillions of different forms.

do you think that is BS? I would genuinely like to know if you do. that would be clarifying.

and if you know this is not BS, then you are wrong about your “alone” point. from what I know, you are totally wrong with that, in every situation.

we also have the simple fact of multiple lifetimes of learning, about everything related to this stuff. maybe some of these were more solitary regarding other humans, maybe they were not. YMMV.

anything you think you are seeing here is the tiniest tip of the iceberg, on every level.

but are you seeing even that much? it doesn’t look like it, to me.

given the more common tone of your participation here, it seems to me like you frequently don’t understand the basics, as I referred to them above.

or perhaps you just don’t have any interest in applying them. sheer laziness could be one explanation for what you do here. a lot actually.

I could be wrong. you could be operating on a highly advanced level that I’m simply not grokking at all. I suppose that is always possible.

in some sense, this is actually always true. if you know what sense I actually mean, please feel free to share, and I may grow some respect for you on another level.

if you know, I would like to actually hear something that sounds like sensible, consciously aware feedback from you, if you can do such a thing.

it is always possible to put it into words, if you know what you are talking about.

“Mo you always remind me of my dear departed brother who kept a cheesy plaque on his desk that read -“If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.”

do you actually have a good example to support your point? please share if you do.

the example you chose is ridiculous, as anyone who knows anything about this stuff knows that multiple meanings can be possible, in many situations with the kind of text I was referring to.

“it could be that the user manual with these kinds of words contains deeper ideas, or deeper potentials for creative application. that’s always a possibility.”

again, this is completely obvious, from my end of the picture. the fact you think it is actually BS is telling.

“like with learning how to program a computer, one can explore that possibility more as one masters the basics.”

uh, yeah. again, from my perspective, this is blindingly obvious.

I use the basics all the time ~ including the programming metaphor, which is bloody good and useful in many applications, sometimes super important ~ and recombine them in various ways, in zillions of different situations.

seriously, Bob, if you are not paying decent attention and are not consciously aware of these things (the basics), you simply don’t know what the hell you are doing or saying.

you can try and pretend otherwise, but it’s generally not going to fly with me unless you are really good at faking it.

if you want to prove it, you can. of that I have zero doubt.

you’ve wasted too much of my time already with your BS in the past, Bob.

I’m always willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. always.

if you want to take the silent route, and pretend your silence is actually saying something meaningful, you can do that, as well. I personally wouldn’t be impressed. that is easy. I’ve walked away from here (and everywhere with these things) for months on end, no problem.

I’m committed to being here, now. for good. that means all of me, all the time. and that also means my tolerance for true BS is pretty nonexistent these days. it serves for no useful purpose.

    cheers,
    ~ mo

    @bills

After finishing that whole documentary about Sviatoslav Richter, I can’t thank you enough for turning me onto him bills. Thank you again, a lot.

That documentary was like watching a nifty little bit of Russian rock ‘n roll history, and was very worth watching. Richter came across as the cool ‘virtuoso’ pop star of his time, along side being a mind blowing talent at the piano in his own right. Mr. chops master alright! I loved it. Maybe the fastest piano player I’ve ever seen, which also really displayed that form of composition properly, how it’s supposed to be played. Wow, amazing.

Very interesting fellow too, one who wasn’t even formally educated as a child. The enigma. I really am glad you brought this to our attention, bills. The Keith Richards bad boy of Russiian pop music history, I had no idea. Excellent !

I’ll re-link the video again here. This next tune reminds me of John Coltrane’s sound, this dude was hip ! (I noticed Richter actually played a lot of ‘flatted fifths’ and all sorts of other ‘jazz’ devices in some of the selections we saw him play in this doc. I definitely liked where his ear went in music.)

Anyway, sorry for the third post in 24hrs mo. I just couldn’t get over this documentary and had to thank bills again for this unusual insight into Russian rock ‘n roll history. Epic. This dude was like Russia’s Mick Jagger ! Thanks for your kind words to me as well bills, and my very best to you too.
