At Least the Ninth

As reported on 7 November 2022, the first verified Mass Extinction Event on Earth occurred more than 550 million years ago. The peer-reviewed report, in the prestigious Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, was authored by Scott D. Evans and eight other scholars. A global drop in oxygen levels about 550 million years ago led to Earth’s first known mass Mass Extinction Event, according to this recent research.

As I have reported previously in this space, there were at least eight Mass Extinction Events before the current one. Therefore, the ongoing Mass Extinction Event is at least the ninth to be documented. The current, ongoing Mass Extinction Event has been well-documented, as I reported about nine months ago in this space.
