Because my work is supported almost exclusively by donations, I am compelled to provide a year-end report of my work for 2022. This short video provides the details of my professional work this year.
In 2022, I reviewed a book proposal for the University of California Press. Unlike my other work this year, I received a nominal fee for providing a detailed peer review of this proposal. Specifically, I received $75 for my four hours of work on this proposal, in addition to more than four decades of work on ecology and climate science.
On the topic of invited work, I delivered one invited, keynote presentation at a Swiss university via Zoom. You can find details and the presentation at guymcpherson.com.
I was interviewed more than a dozen times. Although I was invited to participate in several additional interviews, I declined because the potential interviewers have acted unprofessionally in the past, either toward me or toward someone else.
Working with Pauline, I have posted more than 100 twice-weekly short videos on the Nature Bats Last YouTube channel. Speaking of YouTube, I will provide some year-end statistics from the Nature Bats Last channel.
We were watched about 736,000 times for a total of nearly 6 million watch minutes. That translates to more than 112 years of watch time. This channel received about 58,000 likes, or 160 likes every day. The channel gets a lot more love than I do. We added more than 4,000 new subscribers.
Not surprisingly, we were watched most in January. The coordinated defamation campaign continues, including algorithms stacked against us. In fact, earlier this month I was accused of being, “the worst of the lot” with respect to my reporting on climate science. The same, anonymous idiot called me a grifter. It is unclear whether I’m a grifter because I accepted $75 to review a book proposal, or because I receive 364 heavily taxed dollars each month from a total of 39 people. This $364, along with the monetized Nature Bats LastYouTube channel, represent my sources of income.
Nonetheless, you provided us with a very successful year. You watched a lot of videos, about half of which were poorly edited by me. Some of you watched more than one hundred Nature Bats Lastvideos this year.
Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. The primary payment we receive is your attention and the occasional kind comment. Thank you for watching, and also for the occasional kind words.
Thanks, too, for watching, liking, and subscribing to this channel. If you subscribe, please click the bell so you will be notified about future videos.Feel free to share this video.
