Mailbag Affirmation
Bryan writes an affirmative message. He seems genuinely curious. And he’s appreciative.
I respond, thankful for the authenticity of the message. It hardly makes Bryan’s day. Yet he remains polite. How kind is that?
I was curious. I can certainly accept that the human race is near extinction. We seem to be asking for it with our overpopulation pandemic that few people are even talking about. But do you think we are going to leave this planet uninhabitable for all life after we are gone? I’ve heard you mention the unattended nuclear power plants we will leave behind going into meltdown. Is it going to boil down to “if we can’t continue to rape the planet, no one can..” I just wish I could come back five thousand years later in the aftermath as a scientist to study life on earth. I just worry there will be nothing left.. I love what you do.
“… the typical technological species becomes extinct soon after attaining a modern technology and … this event results in the extinction of the planet’s global biosphere”
Whitmire, International Journal of Astrobiology, 3 August 2017
That’s not exactly what I wanted to hear. Lol. I always had some hope that even after modern civilization collapsed that Earth would heal its wounds and life would carry on just fine or even better without us. Maybe I would get lucky and be reincarnated as a bird or a descendent of dolphins, or something beyond our imaginations.. Call me a hopeless romantic. Question: I’ve been trying to put some fire under the belly of the movement to reduce global population. I don’t want to just die laying down with the knowledge I have. Am I wasting my time??
Do what you love. Do it well. Teach and take right actions. Don’t be attached to the outcome.
Thanks. I just find it hard to accept that four billion years of life’s spark and evolution, 550+ million years of animal evolution, 200,000 years of human blood sweat and tears all culminated into Donald Trumps ego trip.. game over 😪
It’s not Trump. It’s his predecessors, too.
True. But if there was ever any remaining delusion of hope or reversal, it ended with Trump.
