The Hits Keep Coming
The New York Times admits it sends major scoops to the US government before publication, to make sure “national security officials” have “no concerns.” Although the Washington Post has yet to admit to the same, I suspect both primary mouthpieces of American Empire are equally guilty of serving the (corporate) state rather than the people.
I have been libeleled in both major mouthpieces for American Empire, the New York Times and The Washington Post. WaPo piles on more than five years after their original pack of lies. Defamation comes courtesy of the Los Angeles Review of Books as of 3 June 2019 with a hit piece by Roy Scranton penned under the auspices of a review of two books. Eight days later, I’m incorrectly called a “fabulist” who makes people, “give up on life” in Vice. I can add Great Britain’s Guardian to the list in July 2009 (and again in July 2018). The Guardian again joins the crowd, this time with Michael Mann, on 21 September 2020 (to be fair, this is merely free advertising for my blog). The Guardian was not libeling me when I was a source in 2013. Quoting serial liar Michael Mann, Vice joins the evidence-free defamation crowd in July 2019. The BBC takes a neutral position on me while misspelling my name in its article dated 16 March 2020. The Lying Mann is supported by Scientific American in this “interview” from 12 January 2021. I have rarely accused the corporate media of promulgating evidence, and I am certainly not surprised they prefer lies over truth.
Medium, with its limited audience and low standards, applies the illogical notion that, “it cannot happen because it has not happened” to claim that my predictions about the future are useless in a piece published 14 June 2021. Medium also joins the crowd claiming hope is unimpeachably good more than two years after I indicated via peer-reviewed publication that hope is a lie and a mistake.
New Zealand’s primary media outlet joined the evidence-free fray on 15 August 2021. Preferring Scott Johnson’s ancient opinions to the peer-reviewed evidence I present in a peer-reviewed paper, this misguided writer selects hope over reality without even testing the evidentiary waters.
The Associated Press in the United States joined the parade on 4 April 2022. In this latter piece, multiple unsupported accusations come from an array of uninformed people claiming to be scientists or journalists.
I have appeared favorably on the leading media outlets in Canada, Iran, and Russia. In contrast, I have been libeled by the foremost media outlets in the “United” States and “Great” Britain. Were I inclined toward conspiracy, I would reach a conclusion about imperialism and censorship.
I am often asked why people would mis-characterize my work, much less plagiarize it. To paint me as an extremist, instead of pointing out that we face extreme conditions, gives those who lie about me the appearance of normality. Oh, and there is money in it, too. David Wallace-Wells is benefiting financially as my work, cleverly disguised as his writing, has been picked up as an HBO series. His initial article about abrupt climate change was an epic piece of plagiarism.
I know about the dozens of weblogs, too, including pieces authored by my ex-friends. As with the corporate media, writers of the hit pieces on blogs fail to challenge the evidence I present. Rather, as with the corporate media, they purposely confuse the reader with a mixture of personal stories and nonsensical half-truths (i.e., lies).
Nobody challenges the evidence. Nobody discusses my professional credentials. And the conclusion is always the same: Homo sapiens, unlike every other species on Earth, is immune from extinction.
Appealing to emotions is clever and effective. Reaching a desirable conclusion along the way is brilliant. Goebbels and Bernays would be impressed.
I never intended to become a public figure. I tried escaping imperialism, only to have it rabidly pursue me. My inner love of teaching continues to overwhelm my love of living. I have built a treadmill for myself, and my daily workout on the treadmill continues despite the resulting increase in mental stress and reduction in physical fitness.
I have nothing left to lose. I have had everything taken away except my integrity. I will continue to track and promulgate evidence regardless of the personal cost.
Yes, I know better. This is what obsession looks like. After decades of daily practice, I recognize it. And yet, as long as I can provide service in a culture focused on lies, indifference, and greed, I will stay the painful, expensive course.
